Open Call for Contributors to HKIA Columns at Media Platforms by 12 June 2023

HKIA had established a newspaper column “建築思話” at the Hong Kong Economic Journal (信報) since 2012. More than 400 articles on a wide range of topics had been published on media platforms to the general public. A new online column is now being set up with the Hong Kong Economic Times (香港經濟日報HKET). Applications are now open to all HKIA members who is interested to contribute to HKIA columns on various media platforms.

Articles regarding the commentary of current affairs and critical opinion on policies are prioritized in the column with HKEJ as they are being published under the commentary section. The content and style of writing shall also be considered for its positioning and the target audience to achieve a more widespread influence in the business sector and with policymaking authorities.

Potential New HKIA Columns with other Media Platforms
To attract a younger following and reimagine the role of architects in communities and architecture in Hong Kong, the Committee is also looking for young contributors to provide materials, not limited to text, images and videos, as a pilot to approach other printed medias, magazines and online platforms to expand our influence. The content shall not limit to technical architectural writings or commentaries on current affairs and policies. The materials may elaborate more on the cultural and phenomenal side of architecture, urban design, heritage or as architectural travel journals which could reach a more general public and introduce the role of architects and architecture.

All contributors are expected to provide at least one submission per year and feedbacks will be given by the committee via a peer review prior to publishing. Anyone wishing to apply to become a contributor in HKIA columns may express their interest by replying to the HKIA Secretariat via bla@hkia.org.hk by 12 June 2023.
