Synopsis

Architectural competitions are an excellent opportunity for growth and development. One has to tackle complex problems by being quality-based and solution-oriented while pushing the boundaries of their craft. Joining a competition can be a transformative experience, helping architects to grow their portfolios, build professional connections, and elevate their careers.

This is the first of a series of sharing sessions organized by the HKIA Competition Committee in 2024 to introduce our members to different aspects of joining
architectural competitions.

HKIA Fellow Ar. Dr. Joseph KWAN will introduce you to a brief history and background of architectural competitions in HK and roles on the Rules of Conduct and Competition Committee.

To give you more insight, Mr Paul TSE of New Office Works, winner of The Arts Pavilion Competition in West Kowloon Cultural District, will share the strategies that helped them stand out, the challenges they overcame, and the lessons learned.

Ar. Dr. Joseph KWAN, MH
Advisor of HKIA Competition Committee
Founder & Managing Director, UDA Consultants Ltd.

Mr. Paul TSE, AIA
