HKIA is pleased to have support from experienced mediators from Hong Kong Mediation Council Limited (HKMCL) to host this workshop, which is designed to provide architects with the fundamental skills to effectively mediate disputes that may arise in their professional practice. By attending this workshop, you will have the opportunity to observe the interactive role-playing exercises which simulate real-life mediation scenarios.
The Construction Mediation Division (CMD) of HKMCL which was established in January 1994 (initially as Mediation Interest Group). CMD is one of the sector-specific divisions of HKMCL concentrating its mediation activities in construction industry and areas relating to work contracts. It provides voluntary mediation seminars to the government, professional firms and tertiary institutions to introduce and to spread a culture of using mediation to resolve disputes amicably among parties.
The workshop will be delivered by the Construction Division committee members of the HKMCL. It takes around 1.5 hours and comprises a seminar presentation introducing the process of mediation and a role play to demonstrate the process and skills involved. This workshop is also the first step for members to decide whether and how to progress towards proper certified mediation training. It is definitely valuable for architects seeking to expand their skills and services and not-to-be-missed event.
