Synopsis

“’Hot Air’ dives into the creative practice research by Erik L’Heureux (PhD) FAIA through a single project designed and built between 2015-2023 in equatorial Singapore. The adaptive reuse case study illustrates a decarbonized value system of net zero energy and super low carbon design that celebrates ‘Hot Air’ experientially and materially in the creative practice of architecture calibrated to a warming world.”

Speaker

Dr Ar. Erik G. L’Heureux, FAIA
Dean’s Chair Associate Professor, Department of Architecture, College of Design and Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS)

Erik G. L’Heureux (PhD) FAIA is an award-winning architect and academic leader based in Singapore. Through his creative design practice, Erik specializes in designing for the dense equatorial city, using simple monolithic forms and delicate veils to calibrate buildings, interiors, and experiences to the hot air of the urban equator in delightful and surprising ways. Erik serves as a Dean’s Chair Associate Professor at the NUS where he teaches the next generation of architects to be committed to decarbonization and planet-positive architecture calibrated to the equator.
