Synopsis

Jeff has overseen numerous special projects of New World Development (NWD) including the remodeling of New World Centre into Victoria Dockside, and the rejuvenation of Tsim Sha Tsui Waterfront in Hong Kong. He is currently managing the conservation project of the State Theatre in North Point, Hong Kong. 

The State Theatre is the city's last surviving large-scale theatre and currently a Grade I listed historic building.  In October 2020, NWD announced a meticulous conservation project to restore the Grade I historic site. The iconic structure of the State Theatre will be preserved, and the revitalised building will be transformed into a new landmark for culture and arts in the form of a multi-purpose premier performance venue.

In this event, Jeff will take the participants back in time to revisit the history and the cultural significance of the State Theatre. He will share with us on the visions of the project, the progress of the conservation works, and he will also touch upon the challenges he faces in this project.

Jeff is a Registered Architect and a Fellow Member of Hong Kong Institute of Architects. He graduated from the University of Hong Kong in 1985 and has been working in the building industry for 38 years. His extensive experience spans the realms of planning, design and project management of mixed-use, commercial and hotel projects both in Hong Kong and the Mainland China.

Ms. Winnie YEUNG 楊頴賢女士
Winnie is a trained architectural conservationist with a Master’s Degree from the Architectural Conservation Programme at The University of Hong Kong. From 2015 to 2020, she was the Head of Heritage of Tai Kwun: Centre for Heritage and Arts, the Award of Excellence winner in the 2019 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation.

Previously, Winnie was the heritage manager for the UNESCO-awarded Tai O Heritage Hotel and has participated in other heritage projects in Hong Kong and Singapore. She specialises in heritage interpretation and exhibitions, education and community engagement, with the aim to celebrate the rich heritage significance of historic places, raise awareness on cultural heritage conservation and foster community attachment. Winnie is currently the Head of Heritage Management for New World Development Company Limited.
