Selected contents from the upcoming HKIA Journal, Issue 79 “Community”, are now available at www.hkia-journal.net, with a photo essay showcasing community projects covered in the issue. The special citation of the HKIA Gold Medal Award 2023 recipient, the acclaimed Dr Donald Liao Poon Huai, for his profound and distinguished contributions to the evolution of Hong Kong’s public housing design. The symposium, “Community”, moderated by Prof Weijen Wang and Prof Thomas Chung, touched on “Small Interventions with Big Impacts”, and “Large-scale Projects with a Human Touch”.

Selected articles, “Collaborating to Create Catalytic Interventions with Impact” by Alan Cheung, Sarah Mui and Stephanie Cheung; “Design Trust Futures Studio: From Smallness, Playfulness to Community Impact” by Marisa Yiu, and “Community Public Space Transformation: Local Sensitivity; and Collaborative Network” by Melody H Yiu and Hendrik Tieben, highlight how architects in Hong Kong design with communities, and deliver places for the community.
