The original Lam Wah Street Open Space was built in 1990s serving mainly factory workers at the time. The area was proposed to be transformed into a Central Business Area. There were public aspirations for more greenery and leisure space that can provide flexibility for holding different activities. The old under-utilized, elevated and hard paved playground needs to be upgraded. The design strategies are to create an urban village garden in the midst of the dense industrial area to mediate between nature and urban fabric and induce tranquility while cast a reminiscence of the industrial age.
