Revitalization of Tsui Ping River
Revitalization of Tsui Ping River is a one-kilometer-long urban design project, transforming a drab and musty Kwun Tong nullah into an ecologically sustainable Tsui Ping River.
To create a “Walkable Kowloon East,” six cross-river walkways, a floating pontoon, and six landscaped decks are built to provide precious riverside open spaces.
To bring people closer to water, the balustrade design used thin rods and glass to establish visual transparency with the water. Pocket spaces with public seating and shading are created along the riverside walkways.
To cultivate an ecologically diverse habitat, ecological devices including bird perches, rock pools, tidal pools, and floating islands are installed.
To energize the neighborhood, colorful bricks are used in pavements to align with the river’s new branding. Curves are used in planters and balustrade designs to create visual surprises from afar. Lighting art installation is designed to embellish the neighborhood.
