East Kowloon Cultural Centre (EKCC) is a cross-district cultural hub for performance and community events. It houses five performance venues of various sizes with professional equipment to accommodate art groups of different scales. The architectural vision is to create a “Hub for All”, a place for ideas collision, in which creative sparks are generated and radiate through the “windows of art” to the neighbouring districts and beyond.
The building also serve as an “Urban Connector”. It is highly permeable, connecting seamlessly with the transportation nodes, forming an elevated pedestrian link – the “Art-link”. By intentionally bringing daily commuters through the Centre via a public route that intertwines but does not conflict with the activities of event users, the EKCC cultivates a culturally immersive environment that encourages interactions and encounters. The EKCC seamlessly infuse art and culture into the community.
