Nestled at the intersection of Pok Man Street and Kok Cheung Street in Tai Kok Tsui, "Tidal Stories" is an urban installation and exhibition archive of the area’s historical coastline. Marking the former waterfront, the twisting ribbon design chronicles a century of urban transformation, blending past and present to celebrate Tai Kok Tsui’s rich history while fostering community engagement.
Crafted from 9,200 surgical masks and 150 medical gowns, locally collected PPE waste is upcycled into durable outdoor furniture. The co-created installation serves as a communal hub for rest, socializing, and reflection, while solar panels provide clean energy to light the space at night. Modular and prefabricated components can be repurposed into chairs, extending its lifecycle and promoting material sustainability.
Through local letterpress printing craft and engraved metal tabletops, “Tidal Stories” connects cultural heritage with sustainability. Together with architectural tours, the project sparks dialogue on urban transformation and architectural design.
