St. Paul’s Hospital was redeveloped from an old 358-beds hospital to a state-of-art facilities for outpatients and 550 inpatient beds. The hospital site, within the compound of the Sisters of St. Paul de Chartres, is adjacent to a historic chapel and three schools. The project was carried out in 3 phases to maintain continuous operation of the Hospital. Two new high-rise hospital blocks were built in the first two phases. In the Final phase, a 3-storey new building extension at Block A and a new 2-level basement extension of total 2000sqm, and a Chapel Garden of 3700sqm were constructed after the demolition of the remaining old block. The whole redevelopment project aims to balance modern healthcare needs, climatic and sustainability goals, and preservation of historical significance to create a cohesive healing environment that respects the past while looking toward the future.
