The Community Liaison Centre (CLC) for the Civil Engineering and Development Department’s Civil Engineering Office is a pioneering project in sustainable infrastructure. Aiming at a showcase for circular architecture, the CLC integrates innovative materials such as engineered structural bamboo, biochar-enhanced precast concrete panels and carbon-cured concrete footings.
Every design decision prioritizes demountability, adaptability and material recovery, from reusable steel connections to bio-based composites, setting a new benchmark for circular construction. During this technical visit, the project team will introduce the making of the CLC and share their firsthand experience in implementing circular building design and construction in Hong Kong.
