Urban Regeneration Dialogue 2.0: Advancing the Discourse on Hong Kong's Urban Future
Date: 11 July 2026

As Hong Kong’s urban fabric continues to evolve, the question of how we regenerate our ageing neighbourhoods – while balancing heritage, community needs and contemporary demands – has never been more pressing. How do we revitalise our city while preserving its distinctive character and strengthening its resilience?

This forum is the second in an ongoing series advancing discourse on urban renewal in Hong Kong. Building on the momentum of the URAxHKIA Urban Renewal Design Ideas Competition – which brought together architects and urban designers from Hong Kong and overseas to reimagine Yau Ma Tei and Mong Kok – Dialogue 2.0 expands the conversation to address wider strategic challenges and opportunities across the city.

Co-organised by HKIA, HKIUD and URA, the forum brings together practitioners, academics and policymakers to explore innovative and context-sensitive approaches to renewal. Presentations by the winning teams will share design strategies and community-focused thinking to inform future initiatives.

At a timely moment when the HKSAR Government is consulting on Hong Kong’s first Five-Year Development Plan, the forum also offers a platform to consolidate professional insights on urban regeneration and contribute views to the public consultation process. Join the dialogue in shaping a more liveable, resilient and culturally vibrant urban future for Hong Kong.
