Jointly organized by The Hong Kong Institute of Architects Biennale Foundation (HKIABF) and Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC), with The Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA) as partner and the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region as lead sponsor, “PROJECTING FUTURE HERITAGE: A HONG KONG ARCHIVE”, HKIA Venice Biennale and Roving Architecture Exhibitions 2025/26 (Hong Kong Response Exhibition) , returns to Hong Kong for the final stop of its roving exhibition series, following successful presentations in Venice, Italy; Bangkok, Thailand; and Shanghai. The exhibition is now opened to the public at Knotting Space, in Central H Queen’s and Urban Sky in Hysan Place Office Lobby for free admission. The Hong Kong Response Exhibition celebrates Hong Kong’s unsung public infrastructures, around 30 sets of exhibits shedding light on the city’s often-overlooked public realm.
The Hong Kong Reponse Exhibition brought the overlooked yet representative public infrastructures of Hong Kong’s urban transformation back to the community for viewing, demonstrating how their collective "intelligens" is realized in spite of extreme density and economic priorities. Furthermore, it revealed how these architectural achievements have fulfilled the pressing mandates that global cities face today, such as combatting climate change, managing extreme density, and maintaining a cultural life for citizens in shared public spaces. Although these structures designed by local architects are until now little studied, or shared internationally, the multiple exhibits featured—including Hong Kong’s classic composite buildings, multi-functional market complexes, co-op housing, public housing estates, and street infrastructures—have stood out and garnered widespread international attention on the global stage.
The Hong Kong Response Exhibition was kicked off on 2 November 2026, with an opening ceremony officiated by:
