We believe that LLMs and generative models will soon become part of the standard toolkit of architects, and their widespread applications will inevitably lead to radical changes in the profession. Creativity has been defined as ”the ability to come up with ideas or artifacts that are new, surprising and valuable” (Boden, 2004, 2009). From the point of view of the value, which mainly concerns output quality and societal acceptance, there should be little doubt that the productions of LLMs can be considered as valuable (Franceschelli and Musolesi, 2024).
The language understanding capacity of LLMs and of the recent Large Vision-Language Models (LVMs) provide unprecedented expressive possibilities to architects, enabling to turn the entire design process into a language-driven process with prompts at its core. Our research focuses on an AI-empowered workflow for the architecture of tomorrow, we have belief that the future will reside in human-AI co-creation of solutions, rather than in a hypothetical process of replacement of human architects with AI agents.
