Overview
The Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA) has launched its first AI-focused taster course, a 3-hour session aimed at introducing members to the potential of artificial intelligence in architecture. The course explores AI applications across concept development, design, and architectural visualization. Key objectives include addressing industry challenges, understanding AI fundamentals, using basic AI platforms, and integrating resources into a design workflow.
Participants will also reflect on how AI can enhance current practices by improving efficiency and fostering innovation. The course features hands-on activities where architects experiment with AI tools, alongside group discussions that encourage collaborative exploration of AI’s role in design. This interactive format promotes knowledge sharing and innovation among professionals.
Insights gained will help shape future HKIA courses and contribute to a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) research report titled “AI for Architects,” which will disseminate findings to all members. As AI continues to influence various industries, this course equips architects with essential skills and understanding to adopt AI tools effectively, aligning with global trends in architectural practice.
Overall, the initiative supports HKIA’s commitment to advancing technological integration and preparing architects for the evolving demands of the profession.
