In Memory of Ar. Ng Yook Man

With profound sadness, The Hong Kong Institute of Architects learns of the passing of Ar. Ng Yook Man, distinguished architect, respected member of the profession, and  graduate among the pioneering cohort of architectural education in Hong Kong.

On behalf of the Council and members of The Hong Kong Institute of Architects, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Ar. Ng's family, friends, and colleagues during this time of sorrow.

A member of the first graduating class of the Department of Architecture at The University of Hong Kong in 1955, Ar. Ng began his professional practice in 1958 and devoted decades of service to the local architectural profession. His architectural works, across different districts of Hong Kong, testify to his dedication, professionalism, and contribution to the City’s built environment.

Beyond his practice, Ar. Ng was committed to preserving Hong Kong's architectural heritage. His experiences and insights are recorded through oral history projects and publications, allowing future generations to gain a deeper understanding of the development of architecture in Hong Kong. He was also a keen researcher, translator, and author, whose intellectual curiosity extended well beyond the architectural field.

Ar. Ng will be remembered not only for his professional achievements, but also for his lifelong passion for learning, his generosity in sharing knowledge, and his enduring contribution to Hong Kong's architectural community. His legacy will continue to inspire architects and the wider community for years to come.

May he rest in peace.
