Dear Members,
To keep HKIA members informed of the latest BIM practices and to provide greater flexibility for those applying for the BIM Specialist qualification, HKIA has updated the HKIA BIM Accreditation Programme Application Handbook (April 2026). The updated version incorporates the following measures:
1. General Update on Core Competencies (Handbook Section 1.3 & Appendix B)
The updated Core Competencies have been aligned with the latest BIM practices, including the CIC updates to BIMCAS (January 2026). These competencies and new syllabus will be adopted in the HKIA BIM Pro Full Training starting in May 2026, and will apply to all new HKIA BIM Pro applications from 1 October 2026.
2. Fast-track Arrangement for Panel Interview Assessment & Streamlined Procedure to obtain CCBM Certification (Handbook Section 2.1 & 4.0)
Previously, HKIA members, who meet the minimum experience requirements, were required to complete both the HKIA BIM Pro Full Training and the HKIA Top-up Training before applying for BIM Pro and proceeding to the Panel Interview Assessment. Under the updated fast-track arrangement, members who have completed the HKIA BIM Pro Full Training can apply for BIM Pro and attend the Panel Interview Assessment immediately. Upon passing the assessment, members are eligible for recommendation to the CIC for CCBM certification under a streamlined procedure. Please be reminded that the HKIA BIM Pro qualification will only be officially granted after the completion of the entire certification process, including the HKIA Top-up Training and passing the associated assessment.
The updated Handbook can be reviewed at [HERE].
HKIA strongly recommends that members who completed the HKIA BIM Pro Full Training under the previous syllabus to submit their applications of BIM Pro on or before 30 September 2026. For these applicants, accreditation interviews will be conducted based on the previous syllabus.
Should you have any enquiry regarding the updated Handbook, please contact the BP Secretariat Ms. Sally Lau/ Ms. Cindy Yue at 2511 3161 or via email at bp@hkia.org.hk.
Yours sincerely,
