The Lee Shau Kee Student Residence Village at City University of Hong Kong redefines student accommodation with its transformative “Academic Park” concept. Located in Whitehead, Ma On Shan, it is the world’s largest student hostel utilising Modular Integrated Construction (MiC), delivering over 2,000 beds across six themed halls within 1,344 MiC modules. By adopting MiC, construction was completed half a year faster than traditional methods, directly addressing the government's policy on the urgent shortage of student hostels. The design extends learning beyond classrooms into vibrant park-like settings, with extensive green spaces and amenities organised in gymnasiums, canteens, and sports clusters. With 98% off-site completion of MiC, the project achieves significant environmental benefits and maintains high architectural quality. Vertical skygardens seamlessly connect podium and towers, creating a self-sustaining, inclusive environment that fosters international exchange and holistic student development, setting a new benchmark for sustainable and innovative student living.
