The Well-Being Project, led by Hong Kong's Housing Bureau and Housing Authority, brings together diverse professionals, including design thinking consultants, architects, landscape designers, urban planners, building scholars, engineers, healthcare professionals, and social workers. This interdisciplinary team prioritises authentic resident engagement through innovative methodologies. By applying design thinking and participatory design principles, the initiative actively incorporates input from Public Rental Housing residents to develop evidence-based solutions enhancing well-being in public housing environments. Through systematic research and collaborative workshops, the team has created a comprehensive resident-centric design guide that transforms traditional housing approaches. The guide explores and rethinks the design of the estate environment, facilities, and public spaces that foster community connections while enhancing neighbourhood integration across estates and districts, cultivating environments where residents experience genuine ease and well-being.
