According to the “Greater Bay Area Mediator Accreditation Standards (English Cursory Translation)”(the “Standard”) promulgated and enacted by the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Mediation Platform (the “Platform”), the legal departments of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao shall formulate their own local accreditation rules according to the actual circumstances of each place, and conduct their own accreditation of Greater Bay Area (“GBA”) Mediators and form lists of GBA Mediators endorsed by each of the three places. These lists shall be submitted to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Mediation Working Group for review, after which a consolidated panel of GBA Mediators will be formed.The Department of Justice of Hong Kong SAR Government formulates and promulgates the “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Mediator Accreditation Rules (Hong Kong Special Administrative Region)” applicable to the accreditation through Hong Kong based on the requirements of the Standards. The Hong Kong Mediation Accreditation Association Limited (the "HKMAAL") has been appointed as the only body for handling the application for the accreditation as GBA Mediators in Hong Kong. Applications are now being accepted. Applications can only be submitted online, and the online application form is accessible here: https://hkmaal.org.hk/en/gba-application.php. Applicants may submit an application through only one of the following jurisdictions: Guangdong Province, the Hong Kong SAR or the Macau SAR. Applications through multiple jurisdictions by the same applicant will not be accepted or considered.
Application shall close at 23:59 pm on October 6, 2024 (Sunday).
Persons intended to apply for accreditation through Hong Kong may CLICK HERE to preview the entire online application form and the relevant sections that require the upload of supporting documents. Applicants should prepare the necessary information and document proof (only image files in .JPG or .PDF formats of 5mb or below would be accepted) in advance and allow sufficient time to complete the application form. Applicants may also prepare the answers first in an MS Word document.
