1. Announcement
The Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA) hereby announces its official withdrawal from the Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA), with retrospective effect from 20th October 2025.
2. Transitional arrangement for eligibility of the HKIA/ARB Professional Assessment
To ensure smooth transition, and to minimise disruption to graduates from tertiary institutions recognised by CAA, HKIA and ARB will continue to recognise, on an interim basis, architectural programmes on the CAA-accredited list (2020 version) for eligibility to register for the HKIA/ARB Professional Assessment. This transitional arrangement will remain valid for two (2) years, starting from the withdrawal date of 20th October 2025. Graduates who commence an architectural programme on the aforementioned list during the period from 20th October 2025 to 19th October 2027, will be regarded as having fulfilled the required educational qualifications for taking the HKIA/ARB Professional Assessment, subject to their satisfactory completion of the said programme. This arrangement applies to both recognised pre-professional and professional degree programmes.
(Note: HKIA and the Architects Registration Board Hong Kong reserve the right to determine candidates’ eligibility and amend this transitional policy as necessary.)
